How old are you?
When did you begin doing CrossFit? How long have you been with 5280 CrossFit?

Why do you CrossFit?
I Crossfit so I have the strength, endurance and fitness to do all the fun activities I want to do. Some years I hike a fourteener and some years I don’t but I want the option of being able to make the hike or not. I have done week long bike tours in the past and I want the option to continue doing them if I want. I have done 6 marathons and, with CrossFit, could probably do another one… if I wanted to. Don’t think I want to but love having the option. I also CrossFit so I have the strength and energy to get through my busy days, lift want I want or need to lift, and the confidence to know I am taking good care of myself.
Are you married, single, in a relationship? Do you have any children (“furry” children included)?
I am in an awesome forever relationship with a man who appreciates health and wellness as much as I do. I also have a rescue cat named Harley. Harley is also part of the Crossfit family and he can climb trees, jump rocks, scale fences and run the parking lot really fast 🙂
What’s your favorite thing about living in Colorado?
I love the 4 Colorado seasons and being able to get outdoors in all of them. There are really no limits in Colorado with every activity imaginable, lots of open-minded smart fun people, great beer and good food.
Favorite activity to do outside the gym?
My favorite activity outside the gym is probably my Saturday morning 4 mile run group. I have been joining my run group for over 4 years, have met many amazing people and I look forward to the run every Saturday.
How do you make time for CrossFit in your weekly schedule? What’s helped you stay committed?
The best workout time for me is in the morning so I just sign up for one of the morning classes, pack my bag, make my lunch and head out the door. When I started, the coaching and continued encouragement helped me to get going , doing exercises that were pretty foreign and tough. And it was, and still is, really fun accomplishing something I had not done in years, if ever, like a handstand.
What motivates you to keep coming back to 5280 CrossFit?
Knowing the coaches and other members will be there, the strength and fitness I feel from the exercises and the fun workouts keep me coming back. It’s also been great getting to know other Crossfitters and feeling a sense of community. I love to be inspired and this happens almost every workout.
What’s your favorite workout (WOD) or movement?
My favorite movement is a Burpee! Yah, just kidding. Actually, my current favorite movement is a handstand. And I love workouts that are a combination of strength and cardio—ones that are a little longer and work up a good sweat.
What is one CrossFit goal you are currently working on?
Pull up. Simple, one little pull up. Just one. Yep. Working on that.
What’s your favorite workout song?
Share one CrossFit story… (funny, cool, inspiring, etc)
Ok, so last April, 4 months after I had joined, we were doing box jumps. And I was so thrilled to have done my first box jump and proceeded to do a bunch in a row and on the last one, I lost my balance backwards (of all things!). No big deal, planned on tucking and rolling. Well, as I was tucking, my cheek hit a pile of weights I had been jumping on to work up to the 24″ box. The funny part was the only cold thing in the gym at the time was a beer. Who needs ice when there is a cold beer?
What advice do you have for someone thinking about starting CrossFit?
Do it. Don’t worry about being strong enough, fit enough, tough enough. It’s a great workout, a lot of fun and the coaches and members are awesome.
Tell us something most 5280 CrossFit members don’t know about you.
I like to ride the mechanical bull at the Grizzly Rose on Saturday nights.
