Name
Erica and Justin Mullings

How old are you?
33

When did you begin doing CrossFit?
December 2017

How long have you been with 5280 CrossFit?
Just over a year

Why do you CrossFit?
We wanted to change our lifestyle and be healthier. Once we started, we were hooked. We want to bring up our daughter in a healthy home and teach her healthy habits and work ethic. We both did sports in high school and college but struggled to find something as adults until we discovered CrossFit. It just fits! We also love being sore everyday 😜

Are you married, single, in a relationship? Do you have any children (“furry” children included)?
We have been married for 9 years this June and been together for 16! We have a beautiful daughter named Emerson. She’s quite the fireball.

What is your favorite activity to do outside the gym?
Justin loves fly fishing
Erica loves hiking and water sports
We both love spending time with our kiddo!
How do you make time for CrossFit in your weekly schedule? What’s helped you stay committed?
We make it a priority to both make it to at least 3 classes every week. We have made the decision to fit it into our weekly routine. It’s our stress release and we both love the challenge CrossFit brings to the table! Met a coach who always said “never miss a Monday”… this helps on the hard weeks.
How has 5280 made your life better?
It has enriched our lives with great coaching, awesome CrossFit and a sense of community and friends!
What is one CrossFit goal you are currently working on?
Erica-double unders again. Took a little hiatus from this goal but would like to get back at it.
Justin- Ever changing, but at the moment I am solely focused on back squat/leg strength.
Share one CrossFit story… (funny, cool, inspiring, etc)
Erica-During Friday night lights last year, I was working on the one rep max for power cleans. I will never forget how encouraged and exhilarated I felt with people cheering me on. That happened again this year and I will always remember how amazing that feels!
Justin-Coerced into listening to Jason’s advice one WOD that was five rounds with rest built in. Only time I’ve puked during a workout.
What advice do you have for someone thinking about starting CrossFit?
It been the best decision we’ve made for our health in the past 10 years! You’ll be inspired, you’ll feel strong and weak, you’ll see your body do things you never realized it could do. Give CrossFit a chance and you’ll understand why so many people have such a passion for it! One day at a time!
Tell us something most 5280 CrossFit members don’t know about you.
Erica-played rugby in college. Broke my collar bone and still have a plate in it.
Justin-I have lived in 8 states or countries (Texas, Italy, Wyoming, Alaska, Colorado, South Carolina, Ohio, Denmark).
We both love spending time with our kiddo!
