How old are you?

When did you begin doing CrossFit?
March 2018

How long have you been with 5280 CrossFit?
I have been with 5280 exactly 1 year

Why do you CrossFit?
I CrossFit because it’s the first time in my life I’ve found a workout program I love and that keeps me consistently coming back. I also love the encouragement and sheering that comes with working out in a group environment and I don’t feel like I’m being judged if I can’t do something as fast or as heavy as the next person, it’s a very friendly and motivational exercise space!

Are you married, single, in a relationship? Do you have any children (“furry” children included)?
I am in a relationship. I have one furry child (dog) named Myra

What is your favorite activity to do outside the gym?
I love being outside. If I’m not at work or sleeping I’m climbing, biking, hiking, skiing, festivalling, traveling etc.

How do you make time for CrossFit in your weekly schedule? What’s helped you stay committed?
I have made a point to go to the noon class at least 4 days a week. My office is literally next door so it’s a very easy “lunch break” for me. The people have helped me stay committed. I think finding a group of people that I enjoy working out with has made a big difference for me in staying committed.

How has 5280 made your life better?
It has made me feel stronger and more confident. It also helps me realize when I’m slacking in other parts of my life. If I’m not eating well or sleeping well or I’m super stressed it shows in the success of my workouts.

What is one CrossFit goal you are currently working on?
I am aiming for an unbroken RX Fran and a 200+ pound deadlift

Share one CrossFit story… (funny, cool, inspiring, etc)
I think to date my favorite CrossFit memory has been 19.2. Erica and I were the last in our heat to be doing the workout and everyone else was standing around cheering and I PR’d my squat clean by 20lbs. Literally everyone wants each other to succeed and everyone gets excited about each other’s accomplishments and it is such an incredible experience and so motivating

What advice do you have for someone thinking about starting CrossFit?
Just do it. 😁 I hated on CrossFit for a long time but I have a very strong “don’t knock it till you try it” mentality and after giving it a shot in the 6 week challenge I was hooked. Find a good gym and good coaches that you work well with and it’ll change your life.

Tell us something most 5280 CrossFit members don’t know about you.
I love traveling. Growing up my mom took my sister and I all over the world and we lived with local families pretty much everywhere we went so we were very fortunate to get real cultural experiences. I went to boarding school in Australia for a year at the age of 14 and have been to 22 countries. Hoping to keep that number climbing!!
